Hand drawn animation workshop 

with Luiz Stockler

for teenagers aged 14-18

A 2D frame-by-frame animation workshop covering all the basic principles of animation. The participants will make some simple drawings, in a technique of their choice creating a five second animated sequence. Trainer: Luiz Stockler is a Brazilian animation director and illustrator working and living in London. His animation have been screeened and award in festivals around the world. Since 2016 he has been a visiting tutor at the Animation Worksheep workshop.

 

Scratchboard Workshop / Atelier scratchboard

with Tomi Malkki

for teenagers aged 14-18

At the "Itch and scratch that board" workshop participants will get a short brief of scratchboard technics and everybody will do (and have) a scratchboard picture of their own. Trainer Tomi Malkki is a Finnish graphic artist, illustrator and animator. His latest short, Zoo, will be screened at the Creepy Animation Night event. In all his film he uses the scratchboard technique.

 

Comics workshop

with Aniela Ariton

for children aged 10-14 

The comics workshop focuses on the exploration of this visual universe. Basic notions about content (composition, message, titles, symbols) will be taught through interactive exercises. During the workshop the children will create short comics, by themselves or in groups. Trainer Aniela Ariton is an illustrator, working on project as various as mobile apps and children stories. In her free time she delves into the rich world of comics, a source of infinite inspiration.

 

Stop motion workshop 

with Ion Aramă & Radu C. Pop

for children aged 8-12

Children will use cut out paper and modelling clay to create characters and stories of their own imagination. These characters and stories will be put together to form their first animations. Trainer Radu C. Pop is a visual artist and animator. He is a graduate of the National University of Arts Bucharest, with a Master’s Degree in animation from the UNATC Film Faculty. He participated in several editions of Animation Worksheep intensive workshop and he is now a member of the Anim'est team. Trainer Ion Aramă is a film director, illustrator and animator. In between animation jobs, he is slowly gathering ideas for his next live action project.

 

Children animation: live demonstration 

with Ana Cătălina Dobrescu

all ages welcome

The most curious of Anim'est's youngest guests can attend demonstrative workshops which will reveal the secrets of animation. The workshops are scheduled before the Minimest screenings. Trainer Ana Cătălina Dobrescu is a freelance graphic designer and animator. She is a Directing graduate from the Bucharest UNATC Film School,  with a Master’s Degree in animation. She has participated in the Animation Worksheep intensive workshop since the very first edition and now she is a member of the Anim'est team.
