Pitch, please! - 3nd edition

Pitch, please! is a competitive workshop developed by Asociația Animest, with the goal of supporting local animated film productions. The application is free, and participants are selected by a jury formed of Festival organizers and workshop trainers.

During the Workshop, the representatives of the selected projects will benefit from four days of training (script development, character design, pitching, etc.) together with the designated trainers, and on the fifth day they will present their projects to the public (pitching) in front of a jury formed by three professionals in the film industry. The winning project will be rewarded with a double accreditation for director and producer at CEE Animation Forum 2022 - the international event in which the most important names in the animated film industry participate annually.

Trainers

 

Dan Panaitescu 

Dan studied sculpture at the National University of Arts in Bucharest. He was a director and animator for TV commercials since 2004 acquiring extended experience in working with different advertising agencies. 

He was Creative Coordinator and Lead Animator for a series of awarded feature films among which Crulic, The Path to Beyond (d. Anca Damian, 2011) and  Marona’s Fantastic Tale (d. Anca Damian, 2019).

Dan is actively involved in the Romanian educational framework, working as a trainer in the Animation Worksheep program since 2011.

 

Cristian Pascariu

Cristian Pascariu (born in1987) is a film director and scriptwriter with a keen interest in education, art therapy and the integration of visual elements in theatre shows. 

He graduated from the Faculty of Theatre and Film in Cluj-Napoca in 2010 and between 2018 and 2020, he underwent a master program in the Art Therapy section at the National University of Theatre and Film in Bucharest. 

His short films went to more than 70 international film festivals and the present time he is working with several production companies for short and feature films as well as animations. 

As a scriptwriter he worked with different Romanian directors such as Paul Mureșan, Anton Octavian, Sebastian Cosor and Marian Poiană, and at the current time he works as a scriptwiter for two feature films with director/producer Tudor Giurgiu. 

Cristian took part in more than 20 cinema workshops and international programs such as> Mediteraneean Film Institute Workshop (Greece, 2019, 2020), Connecting Cottbus Development Program (Germany, 2018), Transilvania Pitch Stop (Romania, 2018), New Horizons Studio+ (Poland, 2017), ScripTeast (Poland, 2017).

Between 2010 and 2018 he taught acting at the Faculty of Theatre and Film in Cluj-Napoca and in 2012, together with other members of Create.Act.Enjoy he created the most complex art therapy project in Romania. 

Besides that he cooperated with the National Opera in Cluj-Napoca in developing visuals for different shows directed by important directors such as: Mihai Măniuțiu, Silviu Purcărete, László Bocsárdi and Horia Suru.
