White Nights and intense cinematographic experiences at Animest’s 14th edition

Bolder and more intense than ever before, the animated party marathon transforms Animest’s 14th edition in a celebration of movies which transcend the boundaries of this genre. Between 4 and 13 October, the Bucharest International Animation Film Festival – Animest surprises its audience with a nonconformist cocktail of live music and hypnotising projections, dedicated to those who want to enjoy the festival experience day and night.

The tickets will be put up for sale soon, but Animest fans already can buy this edition Gold Card, which provides access to all the projections scheduled, including the special events:

This year Trippy Animation Night, the night of psychedelic and avant-garde movies, will go out of the movie theatre and turn into an electrifying party, dedicated to the spectators who aren’t afraid of escaping their comfort zone. The projection of the films in the selection curated at this edition too by the Dutch artist Michael Helmerhorst will be lively accompanied by the musical techno faggothique universe of those from Fluid, special guests of the event scheduled on Saturday, 5 October, 23:00 forward, at Fabrica Gastropub.

The most spectacular animated music videos will compete for this edition award at Animusic Night, on 10 October, at Club Control. From Black Metal to Alternative Indie, traveling through the world of electronic music and checking off also two local bands, this year selection will delight all music and animation lovers, but will make it harder for the jury to decide. Scheduled at 21:00, the projection will carry on with the unmistakeable sound of Golan DJ Set, and an invitation to the party which will keep on late in the night.

This year Alexandru Burcea (Golan) is guest in this section jury along with Gilda Comârzan, Radio Guerrilla host and producer, photographer with a passion for music and Animest friend since ever. They will designate the winner together with the Mexican artist Aria Cavamonas, who is for the first time in Romania.

On Friday, 11 October, 23:00 forward, Fabrica Gastropub turns into the meeting point of the most bizarre creatures at Creepy Animation Night. The fans of original horror movies are invited to explore the fantastic worlds imagined by Aria Cavamonas, the artist who takes the experimental cinema to another level. Her movies, especially Carnival of the Animals and Own Flying Circus, were screened and appreciated at the biggest festivals of the world, and at Animest, her signature short film series will be accompanied by a super Karpov not Kasparov live performance.
