Trippy, Creepy, Animusic Night: Animation fans with eccentric tastes get their fix of movie screenings and parties

Our white nights dedicated to animating the bizarre return to their original in-person formula for Animest.17, zigzagging between the big screen and the dance floor. Intense experiences for brave adults only, Trippy, Creepy, and Animusic Night will sweep audiences off their feet with a nonconformist cocktail of live music and hypnotising projections. The animated party marathon is coming to Bucharest during October 7-16. Are you in? Get your tickets on the Eventbook platform!

Trippy Animation Night Vol. 9 – Saturday, October 8, starting midnight

Scandalous, eclectic, and electrifying, the avant-garde short film selection from the vast collection of Dutch artist Michael Helmerhorst is the boldest in Animest history.

“Volume 9 will provide the curious onlooker with a diversity of entries that range from educational erotics, moving lounge-wallpaper, ‘rorschached’ split-screen pictures to very likeable images of damaged and decomposed celluloid.

No boundaries whatsoever, as long as it keeps moving on a groovy beat,” promises Michael Helmerhorst, curator & MC of our October 8 event, happening at Eforie Cinematheque.

Animate the Love – the festival’s 2022 theme inspires our Tuesday, October 11 party

Animest director and programmer Mihai Mitrică teamed up with French journalist and film historian Alexis Hunot, our special guest in Bucharest this year, to curate a spectacular animated ode to love, the theme of this year’s edition of the festival. After enjoying the screenings on Tuesday, October 11, head over to Arthub in the evening for our party celebrating love.

Animusic Night – Thursday, October 13, at Arthub

Join us on Thursday at Arthub, starting 10 p.m., to boogie to the most spectacular animated music videos competing for the Animusic Night Award. Three jurors will evaluate and rank the 28 videos selected from across the world, from Belgium to Australia, from Japan to Argentina. One thing’s for sure: jury and viewers alike will enter a fascinating musical universe of innovative sounds and blood pumping rhythms. The screening will be followed by the Love Affair Party at Arthub, with gemineye as master of ceremonies.

Răzvan Exarhu, host of the Morning Glory show on Rock FM – Animest.17 media partner – is on the Animusic jury alongside artist Sașa-Liviu Stoianovici (Balkan Taksim). They are joined by Oksana Kurmaz, the Ukrainian artist who designed this edition’s official poster.

If all this hits the right notes for you, Animusic Night tickets are only a click away

Creepy Animation Night – spooky stories and a Bad Decisions concert

Odd creatures, dark stories and emotionally impactful scenes: a recipe for a night you won’t forget too soon! Our event dedicated to animated horror films is happening on Friday, October 14, from 11 p.m., at Eforie Cinematheque. The screening will be followed by a Bad Decisions live concert. The band was founded in 2018 by Andy Sinboy (Nuggers) and Ovidiu Chihaia (Mes Quins). Recently, Ovidiu Bejan (The Amsterdams) joined, on bass. Bad Decisions play energetic post-punk with a dash of garage. Their debut album, Subnormal, was released by legendary garage-punk label Voodoo Rhythm Records in Bern, Switzerland.
