Cartoon d’Or and Anim’est 2010
Along with the other festivals in the EEAA network, from this edition on, Anim’est is a member of the Cartoon d’Or circuit, the pan-European award for best animated film of the year, offered by Cartoon – the European Association for Animated Film, supported by the MEDIA International programme. This way, each of the most important European film festivals holding competition for animated film, can suggest a title to be nominated for Best European animated short film.
An international jury will be selecting five nominees from this list of suggestions.
The grand winner receives his trophy in September, on the Cartoon Forum stage, the most important forum for co-production, financing and European animated film distribution for TV and new media formats.
Important names in contemporary animated film have won the Cartoon d’Or trophy since it has been founded in 1991, up to today: Sylvain Chomet, Nick Park, Sylvain Chomet, Jacques-Rémy Girerd, Mark Baker, Michael Dudok De Wit or Joanna Quinn.
The five 2010 nominees, including, of course, the winner of the important trophy, Crocodile by Estonian director Kaspar Jancis, is being screened during Anim’est Friday, October 8th, from 6 p.m., at Union Cinema and Saturday, October 9th, from 2 p.m., at Union Cinema.
