Pitch, Please! 4th edition

 

The 2022 edition of the Pitch, Please! program was an event dedicated to supporting and developing emerging animation talents from Romania and Moldova. Organized by Asociația Animest with support from CEE Animation, this edition provided a valuable opportunity for animation creators to develop their projects and prepare for international meetings.

A Horse in a SwanSea, directed by Maria Brudașcă, was the winning project of this edition. It was awarded dual accreditation for the director and producer at CEE Animation Forum 2023, an event that brings together the leading names in the animation industry.

Until September 18, 2022, animation creators could submit their projects, and five of them were selected to benefit from four intense days of preparation. These mentorship days included script development, character design, and pitching techniques, with trainers Dan Panaitescu and Cristian Pascariu.

Selected Projects:

  • Open.closed – directed by Theodora Mihăilă & Cătălina Pistol
  • A Horse in a SwanSea – directed by Maria Brudașcă (the winning project)
  • Work in Progress – directed by Adela Holdon

 

On October 15, 2022, each project was presented to the public and evaluated by an international jury. The jury members included:

  • Matea Milić : Producer at Animafest Zagreb, responsible for fundraising and coordinating animation festivals (Hulahop).
  • Pedro Serrazina (PT): Award-winning animation director, lecturer, and researcher, exploring the intersection of architecture, public space, and animated storytelling.
  • Mirela Vlad (RO) : Instructor at The ‘I.L. Caragiale’ National University of Theatre and Film.
