Toon Scripts Animest.21

The Animest Association, in partnership with PRO TV, Romania's TV market leader, continues to support animation creators by launching a new edition of the Toon Scripts competition. Dedicated to animated series scripts, the competition aims to discover and promote new talent and original stories, with the primary goal of encouraging Romanian screenwriters to develop local productions.

In 2026, three projects were selected to compete for the Toon Scripts Award. The winning project will sign a contract to develop a pilot episode and a series bible under the guidance of experienced TV producers and animation creators:

  • Glenda, Constantine Blenea
  • Groapa, Bianca Solymosi & Ioana Ichim
  • Trupa lu' balaur, Miruna Smit & Călin Ene

 

The finalists participate in a workshop led by Crăița Nanu, Senior Manager Fiction Development PROTV. The workshop covers core aspects of TV and animation production, including storytelling and pitching skills, to help prepare the finalists for the final evaluation by an international jury.

 

The jury is composed of animation and screenwriting professionals:

  • Ema Nemčovičová (Slovakia), Screenwriter and script doctor, co-curator and pre-selection committee member at Fest Anča (Slovakia's Academy Award–qualifying animation festival), and member of the "Le Clef" collective in Paris
  • Filip Columbeanu (Romania), Screenwriter with over ten years of experience in theater and television. His credits include "Împăratul Neîmpărat" (2014), "Vlad" (2019), and "Groapa" (2023). He is currently developing the YA dark fantasy animated series "Samca" at PRO TV, based on Romanian mythology
  • Vasile Alboiu (Romania), Creative Director with experience in numerous animation techniques, from stop-motion to 2D and 3D. Director of the series "ȚUP", the first Romanian animated series produced after 1989. As Creative Director at PRO TV, he explores the latest techniques for creating TV shows, streaming, and digital productions.
