Where Night Falls

Pic Whitman is an eight-year-old boy with Native American features. It's a dark and rainy night, and Pic is alone at home with his mother and the person he has just discovered to be his grandmother: a very old woman, motionless in an armchair. To Pic, "couch cover" seems a more fitting name for her than "Grandma." But Pic's grandfather is also in the house, though he’s resting inside a funerary urn next to his photo, which shows him in all his Native American beauty.
