Drawings of "Crulic - The path to beyond"
In the Cinema Patria lobby are exposed, throughout the festival, the animation team’s drawings of Romanian feature film Crulic – The way beyond, 2011 Anim’est opening film. Thus, the Anim'est viewers will have the opportunity to see exactly how one of the most anticipated romanian feature films of the year was born.
Dan Panaitescu, Dragoş Ştefan, Raluca Popa, Roxana Benţu, Tuliu Olteanu, Andrei Saraliischi and Vlad Păşcanu – were all part of the movie animation crew.
The animated documentary is based on the Romanian citizen Claudiu Crulic’s case, who died on January 18, 2008, at age 33, after he protested against his arrest by the authorities in Warsaw, entering a hunger strike. Post mortem, he becomes the commentator of his own death thanks to the well renowned actor Vlad Ivanov’s voiceover. The film humorously and self-ironically reconstructs the life and death of Claudiu Crulic. A feature of this path is to use several animation techniques, made by drawing, painting, stop-motion or collage, which fits into a particular visual style becoming an innovative way to tell a story.
