EKA Animation: Trusting the student-auteur - Lyza Jarvis

 Animation education is varied and complex, ranging from curriculums that focus on technical skill and industry knowledge to artistic investigation and auteur development. The Estonian Academy of Arts/EKA’s Animation department is of the latter, focusing on providing its students with the space and resources to develop their own personal approaches to filmmaking, animation and art. In this masterclass, Lyza will discuss the department's goals, philosophies and methods of teaching auteur, artistic and experimental animation filmmaking. 

Lyza Jarvis received her BA in animation from EKA in 2021, and has since been working as the department's project coordinator, distributor and occasional lecturer. She is now continuing her studies in the department as a MA student.
