Fantastic Mr. Fox, Metropia and Boogie the Slickster – Saturday evening at Patria Cinema
After a first evening packed with event-screenings of both short and feature films during the official opening of Anim’est International Animation Film Festival’s fifth edition marked by The Illusionist by Sylvain Chomet and Jacques Tati, Saturday evening, October 9th, Patria Cinema will be screening some „heavy” feature films from the Mosaic section, presented by Cinemagia.ro: Fantastic Mr. Fox (dir. Wes Anderson, USA-UK, 2009); Metropia (dir. Tarik Saleh, Denmark-Sweden-Norway, 2009) and Boogie the Slickster (dir. Gustavo Cova, Argentina, 2009). Moreover, Saturday is the start for the screenings of short films in the most popular festival section.
Fantastic Mr. Fox, Wes Andrerson’s feature film, nominated at the Oscars, BAFTA and Golden Globes, „borrowing” the voices of star actors like George Clooney, Merryl Streep, Bill Murray or Jason Schwartzman, is being screened at Patria Cinema, Saturday, October 9th, from 6:30 p.m. Anim’est will host the first ever screening of the film in a Romanian movie cinema, and, so, the Bucharest audience might only get this chance perhaps to follow the sensational adventures of Mr. Fox on the big screen. Metropia, the Scandinavian big budget Sci-fi directed by Tarik Saleh and Trophy winner at the most important fantasy film fest in Europe - Sitges – brings the unique setting of Northern dystopias on the screen of the biggest cinema in Bucharest starting 8:30 p.m. The noir policier film Boogie the Slickster, the first Argentinean feature film selected at Anim’est closes a first day of hit films at Patria Cinema, from 10:30 p.m. with a story inspired by the gangster films spirit from the Golden Age of Hollywood, a stylistic reinterpretation of certain animated films, like Sin City.
