"Greetings from Cartoonia" by Stripburger

In Greetings from Cartoonia, 12 current comic creators, half of them from Slovenia and the other half from various European countries, have entered into an intercultural dialogue as a colourful comic book. The result of this irresponsible behavior are full-of-fantasy postcards from the countries involved, which ignore stereotypes.
Slovenian authors have used their colleagues’ countries of origin (Italy, Finland, Norway, Poland, Portugal and Romania) as a comic subject. Slovenia was used in the same manner by other artists. All authors were inspired by objects gathered from the cultural treasury of the countries involved. Amidst them, you can find architectural typologies, animal species, car patterns, folkloric hand-made products, mythological creatures and so on.
Each artist has created a story from a chosen country, based on a handful of typical objects from there. Hence, the acquired comic portraits quickly got out of hand and have transformed into Cartoonia, a trans-national original and completely new entity. A protective haven for all those who are concerned about the humanity’s lack of sympathy towards the cartoon world, a form of art that they either create or serve.
The Greetings from Cartoonia book is an indispensable guide to this full of unexpected, sometimes dangerous, wonderfully bizarre and strangely wonderful country.

Greetings from Cartoonia exhibition is hosted by the Jumătatea Plină / Half Full Bookstore, which for the time being is temporarily moving its headquarters in place of a future gallery: St. Jean-Louis Calderon no. 44. Jumătatea plină Bookstore is still the only place for comic books, comics, manga and illustration in Romania.
Greetings from Cartoonia is a project signed by Stripburger in Slovenia, hosted by the Jumătatea plină Bookstore in the 2011 Anim’est International Animation Film Festival and supported by ICR .
