Isabela Petraşincu – Anim’est Lifetime Achievement Award

Every International Animated Film Festival edition, Anim'est rewards a Romanian animator’s work. This year, Isabela Petraşincu, one of the few filmmakers in the history of Romanian puppet animated film, will receive the Anim’est Lifetime Achievement Award. Born in 1931 and having graduated from the Faculty of Architecture within the Institute of Bucharest Ion Mincu, Mrs. Petraşincu started her career in animated film as a production designer and draftsman in the Animafilm Studio, going on to film directing, which she practiced between 1970 and 1994, during which she directed dozens of cardboard cut animated and puppet films. She was awarded with the Golden Dolphin Grand award at the Tehran Film Festival for Parada cifrelor / Figures Parade (1979), and Poveste cu gheme de lână /  Balls of Wool Story (1987) was selected in International Animated Film Festival Competition in Annecy. Eight short films directed by Isabela Petraşincu will be screened in the animator’s presence Wednesday, October 12, from 18:00 at the Union Cinema.
