Open Call: Spend Three Weeks Creating in the Arctic!

If you're an experimental animator or a video artist looking for time, space, and inspiring conversations to develop your practice, this opportunity might be for you.

The Arctic Hideaway, in collaboration with the Animation Festival Network, is inviting artists from Czechia, Croatia, Romania, Slovakia, and Slovenia to apply for a three-week residency in Fleinvær, Norway, taking place in May 2027.

Designed for artists working at the intersection of animation and new media, the residency welcomes projects exploring experimental animation, interactive experiences, AR, VR, immersive storytelling, and other forms that challenge and expand the language of animation.

Far from the distractions of everyday life, The Arctic Hideaway offers a unique setting for artistic research. The five selected participants will each have a private room, while sharing meals, workspaces, and everyday life in the residency's common areas. This balance between personal space and communal living encourages exchange, collaboration, and conversations with international peers.

The selected artists will receive:

• Accommodation at The Arctic Hideaway for the full three-week residency
• Food and shared meals throughout the programme
• €400 towards transportation costs
• A unique opportunity to connect with fellow artists and experience life in one of Norway's most remarkable island communities
