The Anim’est competitions at the starting line

The 2010 Anim’est competitions are starting Monday, October 11th, with three event-screenings. The Columbian film The Mysterious Presages of León Prozak (dir. Eduardo Santa, 2009) is the opening title for the Feature Film Competition screening, presented by Groupama, Monday, at 10:30 pm, at Patria Cinema. An experimental and hypnotising film, it illustrates how León Prozak lends his own head to Mefistofel, for some circus acrobatics. The animated scenes, made by different plastic artists, are the film’s core, the representation of passion for painting throughout time. The animated paintings take on a wide range of topics, from politics to eroticism, expressing different visions on the world. The first out of the five International Short Film Competition programmes is also being screened Monday, October 11th, from 6:30 pm, at Patria Cinema, and the first Music Video & Advertising section, with videos like Splitting The Atom from Massive Attack or Septembers – the British video from Mantra ATSM made by Octavian Anton, will be screened at Union Cinema, starting 6 pm.
