The first weekend of Anim'est 2013

The eighth edition of the Anim'est begins on October 4 and is full of surprises until October 13. From Ernest et Célestine, projected at the opening gala, to Minimest - children's section and awarded animations in the Animash section, until Project Worksheep and The Night of the Trash Bin Treasures, the festival promises an intense weekend. And it's only the beginning. 

At the Studio Cinema, at 18:00, you can follow the six titles nominated for Cartoon d' Or 2013. Cartoon d' Or is the pan-European award for best animated short film of the year. Powered by CARTOON - European Association of Animation, with the support of the MEDIA Programme, the award honors the best film among trophy winners of the most important film festivals in Europe. Anim'est is part of these festivals’ network.

At Patria Cinema, the festival officially starts at 19:00 with the opening gala, followed by the screening of the Franco-Belgian animation Ernest et Célestine, in the presence of co-producer Jean-Paul Commin from the company Les Armateurs, which produced most movies by Michel Ocelot. The animation, directed by Stéphane Aubier, Vincent Patar & Benjamin Renner presents Célestine, a young mouse from the orphanage with a constant fear of bears, the primary enemy of her species, but gets to befriend one of them, the musician Ernest.

Saturday, October 5 at Studio Cinema, starts with Minimest. From 10:00, the youngest fans of animation can watch a program of six short films, and at 11:00, a creative recycling workshop will show children how to make figurines / animals / characters (from the projected short films) out of recycled materials. A must-see projection at the Studio Cinema is The Congress, the newest film by Ari Folman (Waltz with Bashir), screened at 18:00 in the presence of Sefi Gayego, movie animation supervisor, animator on Waltz with Bashir and former student of the prestigious Bezalel Academy of Art and Design in Israel. Starting 20:30, Max & co. will be projected in the presence of directors Sam and Fred Guillaume.

From 17:00 at The Hub Bucharest (Halelor Street, no. 5) takes place Project Worksheep, a workshop on projects about animated films.

The latest film by Tim Burton, Frankenweenie, is shown at Patria at 18:40. At 20:30, starts the first block of short films in the Animash competition, the audience being invited to vote their favorite movies for the Audience Award.

From 23:00, the dementia unleashes at Patria, with The Night of the Trash Bin Treasures, a collection of rarities, oddities and political incorrectness presented by the collector Michel Helmerhorst.

Sunday, October 6, at Patria Cinema, is Aardman Day, a retrospective of the most important studio in Europe.

At 16:00, Studio Cinema, is scheduled the presentation of the animation studio Caméra-etc. The program is presented by Jean-Luc Slock, Anim'est 2013 jury member, director, producer and founder of Caméra-etc.
