The Little Mole

Created by Czech director and animator Zdeněk Miler in 1956, Krtek, or The Mole in English, was an international hit with children. Because the cartoons were presented with no dialogue, Krtek was held to no national boundaries.
Miler’s daughter voiced the noises and grunts that Krtek made, and gave Miler the feedback from a child's perspective he needed to keep his stories focus on his young fans.

Music plays an important role in the cartoons, since the characters almost never utter more than emotional sounds, the most common of which is "Hello!" ("Ahoj" in Czech). The music of the original series was signed by Vadim Petrov şi Miloš Vacek.
Over 40 of the shorts were eventually made, spanning nearly fifty years.

We are very happy to bring Krtek’s adventures to the festival, with the precious help of the Czech Centre in Bucharest.
