Toon Scripts: Animest and ProTV launch the Animation Series Script Competition

Animators looking for a platform to help launch their projects, meet Toon Scripts, a competition dedicated to animated TV series!

Register until September 1, 2024 by filling out this form in Romanian.

Despite their worldwide popularity, animations are still finding their feet in Romanian cinematography. Through this competition, Animest aims to contribute to the growth of the industry in Romania by offering creators visibility and the opportunity to meet potential partners, an important step in actually getting shows funded and produced.

Ever since 2006, the Animest festival has featured multiple pilot episodes of famous animated shows, such as The Simpsons, Afro Samurai, as well as the newer Death, Love and Robots and Scavengers Reign, screened in the presence of special guests to our festival in Bucharest.

Toon Scripts is open to both experienced and debut screenwriters: auteurs from Romania, over 18 years of age. Submit your script ideas for an animated TV miniseries of six or eight 20 to 25-minute episodes for your preferred audience.

Make sure to read the rules here, in Romanian.

Until September 16, a jury selected by the ANIMEST Association and PRO TV will choose five finalist projects.

Then, during the Animest International Animation Film Festival (October 4-13, 2024, Bucharest), the finalists will take part in a practical project development workshop led by an experienced TV producer selected by PRO TV and ANIMEST. The workshop will take one to three days; its final schedule will be sent out in September.

The Toon Scripts winner will be announced at the closing Gala of the 19th edition of the Animest Festival and rewarded with a development contract worth EUR 5000 before tax for the pilot episode and the show bible, with mentoring from experienced TV producers.
