Trippy, Creepy, Animusic: Two nights, three events, bizarre animations and hypnotizing music videos

Dystopian worlds, weird characters and animated music experiments are back for the 16th edition of the Animest International Animation Film Festival (October 8-17, in Bucharest and online). An oddball cocktail of electrifying cinematic experiences, Trippy Animation Night returns to the silver screen with an atypical collection of short films, presented by Dutch artist and collector Michael Helmerhorst, who will join us in Bucharest as a special guest, following the good tradition of the last nine years, only interrupted last year. In the cinema, as well as on the Animest streaming platform, you are invited to enjoy the animated music videos selected for Animusic Night. Creepy Animation Night’s horrific tales will wander the country, uniting home screens (yours, yours, and yours, too!) into a multicolored source of panic, consternation and dread.

Animusic Night: live at the Cervantes Institute and on the Animest online streaming platform

The most spectacular animated music videos produced this year are competing for the Animusic Night Award on Thursday, October 14, at the Cervantes Institute and online, on our streaming platform. What to expect? One of the most diverse selections in the history of this category, it has it all, from underground productions to international charts top scorers. Heaven for lovers of music and animation! The three-strong all-female jury includes illustrator Nini Tuan, who created the Animest.16 official poster, artist Claudia Ilea, representing the new age of Romanian animators, and actress Carla Teaha, hostess of the ROZ show and rep of Radio Guerilla, one of the most long-standing friends of the festival.

Trippy Animation Night will only be screened at the Cervantes Institute

Michael Helmerhorst is the eccentric host of the event, after also curating the unusual narratives that make up the Trippy Animation Night selection. On Friday, October 15, starting at 8 PM, he will join moviegoers on a psychotronic journey to the fourth dimension. From the stage of the Cervantes Institute in Bucharest, the Dutch artist will guide you as you step into a bizarre, nonconformist, nonlinear, atypical universe. Trippy Animation Night will happen exclusively at the Cervantes Institute, for adult audiences only.

Creepy Animation Night, an online-only thrill

Always wanted a home cinema? Get your living room and imagination ready for the darkest original animated horror stories produced in the last few years, streaming on Friday, October 15, at 10 PM, for Creepy Animation Night. This selection of shorts, appropriate for adults only, will be available for 24 hours exclusively on the Animest streaming platform.
