Guest Country Cyprus

The art of animation has grown in recent years in Cyprus, with new artists gaining international attention and films becoming increasingly compelling. A decisive role in promoting and disseminating the art of animation in Cyprus has been played by Animafest Cyprus – Views of the World, the International Animation Festival of Cyprus, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. 

Cypriot animators are writing a new story through their films. This small but dynamic and constantly evolving group of artists grows, develops, and matures year by year, now clearly asserting its presence with international ambitions. The flourishing of animation art in Cyprus is a measure of the success of Animafest Cyprus, which was born 25 years ago in a small courtyard in a village on the cypriot countryside, whose population did not exceed 30 residents. Until then indepentend animation was almost uknown in Cyprus. The festival’s aim was to introduce the art of independent Animation cinema not only to the urban audience, but also to remote communities of the Cypriot countryside.
