The fourth day at the 2012 Anim'est

After an intense weekend, during which the animated movies and special events kept moviegoers company, a full week is going to follow.

Monday, October 8, the competition begins! At 6pm, Studio Cinema, the first block of shorts brings out 9 rewarded and appreciated titles including Lost & found by Joan C. Gratz (present at 2011 Anim’est), Joseph Pierce’s The pub directly from Annecy , The Shoemaker by David Doutel and Vasco Sá, awarded at a number of major animation festivals (Annecy, Monstra Lisboa) or Who Lasts Longer (dir. Gregorio Muro), a dangerous children's game.

At 8pm, viewers will be introduced to Selkirk, the real Robinson Crusoe. A mercenary pirate, famous for his stubbornness and selfishness, Selkirk is the navigator officer of the British galleon, Esperanza. The ship is sailing in the South Seas in search of treasures and due to the lack of enemies, the crew kills their time with gambling. Broke and not at all loved by his crew and captain, Selkirk is abandoned on a desert island, where he learns to put aside revenge and see the world from a different view.

At Patria Cinema, Stuttgart Animation Film Festival, one of the most important festivals in the world, presents a selection of short films carefully chosen from its competition, starting 4.30pm.

From 6.30pm, viewers will be able to see an important film in Jiri Trnka's career, The Emperor’s Nightingale, after a story by Hans Christian Andersen, about a nightingale’s song that teaches the king to rebel against rigid protocol in his bright, yet shallow world.

At 10.30pm, we will be able to see 3 short films in the Animash section (ex Mosaic).
