Animusic Night: bop and bounce to animated music videos
This past year’s most spectacular animated music videos are in the running for the Animusic Night Award – to be announced during the dedicated party on Thursday, October 10, starting at 9 PM, at the Eforie Cinematheque. Traveling to Bucharest via musical waves all the way from Japan, South Korea, Argentina, France, the Czech Republic, Poland, and Romania too, the 31 videos are sure to inspire Animest audiences and challenge the three jurors.
Omu Gnom, or Daniel Secătureanu according to his national ID, host of Radio Guerrilla’s Music to Think To, is a longtime partner of Animest. He’ll be joined on the Animusic jury by MidoriStars (Izabella Alda), the first Romanian artist to compose and perform in Japanese, and Kōji Morimoto, star Japanese anime director and Animest.19 special guest.
This year’s Animusic Competition includes four videos by Romanian artists, which we can (unbiasedly) describe as delights for both the dancing footsies and the beating heartsies: Hum Ans by Marú & Ivcelnaiv, featuring István Téglás – described as the rainbow after the acid rain of intolerance; Oh, Mary / Tu, Mărie (Grasu XXL) – the story of a little girl who discovers the world under her dad’s protection; Somewhere In My Dreams (Nai Br.XX & JET) – a U.S.-Romanian co-production following the heroine’s travels through her dreams, where reality and fantasy merge together; and Nonstop by NANE – a musician’s conflict with his ego, fans, and haters.
Thursday is the new Friday, so let’s go out! Grab some comfy shoes and get your tickets online, on Eventbook, at https://bit.ly/Animusic2024.
